¡No pasarán!
Posted: September 2, 2012 Filed under: Politics, Punk rock | Tags: Pussy Riot 13 CommentsThe Pussy Riot trio is pictured as they went to trial. We see the double confluence of music and politics in the shirt worn by Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, on the right. Not only is Pussy Riot demonstrating against Putin’s Russia. Her shirt celebrates the Republicans in the Spanish Civil War of the 1930s. “¡No pasarán!” They shall not pass.
I’ve posted an essay here about my special interest in the Spanish Civil War, which was an important period in American political and intellectual history. Many Americans, unfortunately, are not knowledgeable about or even aware of this war. The civil war in Spain in 1936-39 was the first act of the wars, both cold and hot, that followed for the next 50 years.
Way cool! Some very valid points! I appreciate you writing this article
and also the rest of the site is very good.

I do get a fair amount of spam — maybe 5-10 a day — but WordPress automatically puts them in a spam file so I don’t see them. Once in a while I go to the spam file and delete the actual spam. Occasionally, some real comments get sent there by mistake so I can approve them to be posted.
Check and see if your blog platform can’t be set to sort out spam so you don’t have to see it until you’re ready.

Hi, thanks for your good words. My site is all WordPress and is built on a standard WordPress theme called “Clean Home.” I like it too. I created it myself but got a little help from a friend on using widgets, setting categories, etc.

I am really enjoying the theme/design of your site.
Do you ever run into any web browser compatibility
issues? A number of my blog visitors have complained about
my blog not operating correctly in Explorer but looks great in Chrome.
Do you have any ideas to help fix this problem?

Hi there! I know this is kind of off topic but I was wondering if you knew where I could
get a captcha plugin for my comment form? I’m using the same blog platform as yours and I’m having trouble finding one?
Thanks a lot!

I’m sure WordPress must have a captcha plugin. If you can’t find it by using a search, you can go to the WordPress support page.

You should be able to put in your email address at the top of the righthand column, where it says “follow this blog”. WordPress will send you an email with a link so you can verify that you subscribed.
